Public Summary

Development of a mouse model that can be used to 1) eliminate a subset of macrophages from the lungs of mice that are permissive for epithelial infection during SARS-CoV-2 infection. These macrophages are heavily recruited during infection, and may play in a role in the detrimental inflammatory response seen in some patients; and 2) drive SARS-CoV-2 infection of a specific subset or macrophages.
