For nearly 40 years the UCSF AIDS Specimen Bank (ASB) has collected, processed, stored and distributed biospecimens for UCSF investigators who require secure and safe biospecimen handling for patients with infectious diseases. We have recently expanded
our activities to support the collection, processing and storage of blood and other biospecimens for COVID-19 research. Supported by new, purpose built resources and infrastructure we can process and store COVID-19 biospecimens in a state of the art BSL 2+ level environment. In addition to receiving, handling and processing biospecimens we also offer long term storage for future investigations. We believe that our many decades of experience in biospecimen banking for AIDS/HIV science can also be valuable to colleagues engaged in COVID-19 research.
