NOT-ES-20-020: Notice of Special Interest (NOSI): NIEHS Support for Understanding the Impact of Environmental Exposures on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

  • If you are applying for a supplement for additional work within the scope of your funded NIEHS grant, apply to PA-18-591, Administrative Supplements to Existing NIH Grants and Cooperative Agreements (Parent Admin Supp Clinical Trial Optional) or its re-issued equivalent.
    • P42 awardees are eligible for this mechanism.
  • If you are applying for support for work that is related to your funded NIEHS grant, but outside of the scope of the grant, apply to PA-18-935, Urgent Competitive Revision to Existing NIH Grants and Cooperative Agreements (Urgent Supplement - Clinical Trial Optional) or its re-issued equivalent.
    • The parent award must be active when the supplement application is submitted (e.g. within the originally reviewed and approved project period), regardless of the time remaining on the current project.
  • NIEHS considers the COVID-19 pandemic to be an unpredictable event that provides a limited window of opportunity to collect human biological samples or environmental exposure data (e.g measuring levels of pollutants in air or water during a long period of social distancing due to COVID-19). If you are applying for a new R21 grant that does not build off of an existing NIEHS grant, apply to RFA-ES-19-011 “Mechanism for Time-Sensitive Research Opportunities in Environmental Health Sciences (R21 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)”, provided the time-sensitive criteria described therein are met.
